Many public entities are struggling to understand the requirements and properly apply the new federal leaves that are mandated by the Federal Family First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). In addition, the need for information providing general guidance for social distancing and other policies for conducting the operational aspects of the essential functions of public entities has also become apparent.

COVID-19 EXPANDED FMLA POLICY
The purpose of this Policy is to create paid leave of up to twelve (12) weeks for absences resulting from the need to care for minor children who are home from school or day care due to an emergency with respect to COVID-19, in compliance with the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act (“EFMLEA”) which was enacted as part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”), and to educate employees as to their eligibility for “Public Health Emergency Leave” under the EFMLEA.
COVID-19 PAID SICK LEAVE POLICY
The purpose of this Policy is to create paid sick leave for COVID-19-related absences in compliance with the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (“EPSLA”) which was enacted as part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”) and to educate employees as to their eligibility for paid sick leave due to an inability to work (or telework) for COVID-19 related issues.
